About The New Heart English Bible – Messianic Edition
The New Heart English Bible – Messianic Edition (NHEB-ME) is a special edition of the New Heart English Bible (NHEB). The NHEB is a public domain update of the World English Bible, a public domain Bible based on the 1901 American Standard Version. The NHEB is updated with consideration to all available manuscripts.
Besides the Messianic Edition, the NHEB is provided in several other editions generally with revised proper names following various traditions. You can visit NHEB.net and freely download any of the Bible editions in both plain text and PDF documents. In addition to the English texts, the critical Hebrew and Greek texts from which the NHEB is translated are available in RTF and PDF documents.
We have chosen to use the New Heart English Bible – Messianic Edition because most people in the Messianic and Hebrew Roots communities are familiar and have become comfortable with Hebrew proper names.
The reading pages on this site are adapted from the text files for the NHEB. The PDF document on the NHEB.net site is actually a later revision, and in a few passages there may be a difference. You are encouraged to download the PDF document of the complete Bible (Tanakh and New Covenant) for use on your computer, tablet or phone. This document is formatted into two columns for easy reading and contains numerous explanatory footnotes. The books of the Tanakh follow the traditional Hebrew order.
The NHEB-ME is not currently offered in print form, though a copy of the NHEB New Testament is available at Amazon (go here to see it). Most editions of the NHEB including the NHEB-ME are available as modules for the MySword (Android) app.
