Matthew 27:24-Mark 2:17

^27:24 So Pilate, seeing that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, took water and he washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous man. You see to it.”

²⁵ All the people answered, “May his blood be on us, and on our children.”

²⁶ Then he released to them Barabbas, but Yeshua he flogged and delivered to be crucified. ²⁷ Then the governor’s soldiers took Yeshua into the Praetorium, and gathered the whole garrison together against him. ²⁸ They stripped him, and put a scarlet robe on him. ²⁹ They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him, and mocked him, saying, “Greetings, King of the Jews.” ³⁰ They spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head. ³¹ When they had mocked him, they took the robe off of him, and put his clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.

³² As they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name, and they compelled him to go with them, that he might carry his cross. ³³ They came to a place called “Golgotha,” that is to say, “The place of a skull.” ³⁴ They gave him wine to drink mixed with gall. When he had tasted it, he would not drink. ³⁵ When they had crucified him, they divided his clothing among themselves, casting a lot, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: ‘They divided my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing they cast a lot.’ ³⁶ And they sat and watched him there. ³⁷ They set up over his head the accusation against him written, “THIS IS YESHUA, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

³⁸ Then there were two robbers crucified with him, one on his right hand and one on the left. ³⁹ Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, ⁴⁰ and saying, “You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save yourself. If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”

⁴¹ Likewise the chief cohanim also mocking, with the scribes, and the elders, said, ⁴² “He saved others, but he cannot save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him. ⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.'” ⁴⁴ The robbers also who were crucified with him insulted him in the same way.

⁴⁵ Now from noon until three in the afternoon there was darkness over all the land. ⁴⁶ Then at about three in the afternoon Yeshua called out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema shabachthani?” That is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

⁴⁷ Some of them who stood there, when they heard it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.”

⁴⁸ Immediately one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him a drink. ⁴⁹ The rest said, “Let him be. Let us see whether Elijah comes to save him.”

⁵⁰ And Yeshua cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit. ⁵¹ And look, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split. ⁵² The tombs were opened, and the bodies of many kadoshim who had fallen asleep were raised; ⁵³ and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they entered into the holy city and appeared to many. ⁵⁴ Now the centurion, and those who were with him watching Yeshua, when they saw the earthquake, and the things that were done, feared exceedingly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God.”

⁵⁵ Many women were there watching from afar, who had followed Yeshua from Galilee, serving him. ⁵⁶ Among them were Miriam Magdalene, Miriam the mother of Jacob and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee. ⁵⁷ When evening had come, a rich man from Arimathaea, named Joseph, who himself was also Yeshua’s talmid came. ⁵⁸ This man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Yeshua. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given up. ⁵⁹ Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, ⁶⁰ and placed it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out in the rock, and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed. ⁶¹ Miriam Magdalene was there, and the other Miriam, sitting opposite the tomb. ⁶² Now on the next day, which was the day after the Preparation Day, the chief cohanim and the Pharisees were gathered together to Pilate, ⁶³ saying, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver said while he was still alive: ‘After three days I will rise again.’ ⁶⁴ Command therefore that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest perhaps his talmidim come and steal him away, and tell the people, ‘He is risen from the dead;’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”

⁶⁵ Pilate said to them, “You have a guard. Go, make it as secure as you can.” ⁶⁶ So they went with the guard and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone.

^28:1 Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn on the first day of the week, Miriam Magdalene and the other Miriam came to see the tomb. ² And look, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from the sky, and came and rolled away the stone, and sat on it. ³ His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. ⁴ For fear of him, the guards shook, and became like dead men. ⁵ The angel answered the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Yeshua, who has been crucified. ⁶ He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where he was lying. ⁷ Go quickly and tell his talmidim, ‘He has risen from the dead, and look, he goes before you into Galilee; there you will see him.’ See, I have told you.”

⁸ They departed quickly from the tomb, frightened yet with great joy, and ran to bring his talmidim word. ⁹ And look, Yeshua met them, saying, “Rejoice!” And they came and took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.

¹⁰ Then Yeshua said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers that they should go into Galilee, and there they will see me.”

¹¹ Now while they were going, look, some of the guards came into the city, and told the chief cohanim all the things that had happened. ¹² When they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave a large amount of silver to the soldiers, ¹³ saying, “Say that his talmidim came by night, and stole him away while we slept. ¹⁴ If this comes to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him and make you free of worry.” ¹⁵ So they took the money and did as they were told. This saying was spread abroad among the Jewish people, and continues until this day.

¹⁶ But the eleven talmidim went into Galilee, to the mountain where Yeshua had sent them. ¹⁷ When they saw him, they bowed down to him, but some doubted. ¹⁸ Yeshua came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. ¹⁹ Therefore go, and make talmidim of all nations, immersing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ teaching them to obey all things that I commanded you. And look, I am with you every day, even to the end of the age.”

^1:1 The beginning of the Good News of Yeshua the Messiah, the Son of God. ² As it is written in Isaiah the prophet,

“Look, I send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way before you.
³ The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way of the Lord.
Make his roads straight.'”

⁴ John came immersing in the wilderness and proclaiming the immersion of repentance for forgiveness of sins. ⁵ And all the country of Judea went out to him and all those from Jerusalem, and they were immersed by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins. ⁶ And John was clothed with camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist. He ate locusts and wild honey. ⁷ And he preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen. ⁸ I immersed you in water, but he will immerse you in the Holy Spirit.”

⁹ And it happened in those days, that Yeshua came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was immersed by John in the Jordan. ¹⁰ Immediately coming up from the water, he saw the heavens parting, and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. ¹¹ And a voice came out of the sky, “You are my beloved Son, with you I am well pleased.”

¹² And immediately the Spirit drove him out into the wilderness. ¹³ And he was in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals; and the angels were serving him.

¹⁴ Now after John was taken into custody, Yeshua came into Galilee, proclaiming the Good News of God, ¹⁵ and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is near. Repent, and believe in the Good News.”

¹⁶ And passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. ¹⁷ And Yeshua said to them, “Come, follow me, and I will make you into fishers of people.”

¹⁸ And immediately they left the nets, and followed him. ¹⁹ And going on a little further, he saw Jacob the son of Zebedee, and John, his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets. ²⁰ And immediately he called them, and they left their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him. ²¹ And they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught. ²² And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes. ²³ And just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he shouted, ²⁴ saying, “What do we have to do with you, Yeshua, Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God.”

²⁵ And Yeshua rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him.”

²⁶ And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him. ²⁷ And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching? For with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.” ²⁸ And at once the news of him went out everywhere into all the region of Galilee and its surrounding area.

²⁹ And immediately, when they had come out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with Jacob and John. ³⁰ Now Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. ³¹ And he came and took her by the hand, and raised her up. The fever left her, and she served them. ³² At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all who were sick, and those who were possessed by demons. ³³ And all the city was gathered together at the door. ³⁴ And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew him.

³⁵ And early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there. ³⁶ And Simon and those who were with him followed after him; ³⁷ and they found him, and told him, “Everyone is looking for you.”

³⁸ And he said to them, “Let us go somewhere else into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because I came out for this reason.” ³⁹ And he went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out demons.

⁴⁰ And a leper came to him, begging him, and knelt down and said to him, “If you want to, you can make me clean.”

⁴¹ And being moved with compassion, he stretched out his hand, and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing. Be cleansed.” ⁴² And immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was made clean. ⁴³ And he strictly warned him, and immediately sent him out, ⁴⁴ and said to him, “See you say nothing to anyone, but go show yourself to the cohen, and offer for your cleansing the things which Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.”

⁴⁵ But he went out, and began to proclaim it freely, and to spread about the matter, so that Yeshua could no more openly enter into a city, but was outside in desert places: and they came to him from everywhere.

^2:1 And when he entered again into Capernaum after some days, it was heard that he was in the house. ² And many were gathered together, so that there was no more room, not even around the door; and he spoke the word to them. ³ And four people came, carrying a paralytic to him. ⁴ And when they could not bring him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him. When they had broken it up, they let down the mat that the paralytic was lying on. ⁵ And Yeshua, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”

⁶ But there were some of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, ⁷ “Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming; who can forgive sins but God alone?”

⁸ And immediately Yeshua, perceiving in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you reason these things in your hearts? ⁹ Which is easier, to tell the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven;’ or to say, ‘Arise, and take up your bed, and walk?’ ¹⁰ But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”, he said to the paralytic, ¹¹ “I tell you, arise, take up your mat, and go to your house.”

¹² And he arose immediately, and took up the mat, and went out in front of them all; so that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this.”

¹³ And he went out again by the seaside. All the crowd came to him, and he taught them. ¹⁴ And as he passed by, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he arose and followed him.

¹⁵ It happened, that he was reclining at the table in his house, and many tax collectors and sinners sat down with Yeshua and his disciples, for there were many, and they followed him. ¹⁶ And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, said to his disciples, “Why is it that he eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?”

¹⁷ And when Yeshua heard it, he said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
